A good friend of Third Coast Bride purchased the Eva Gown this spring at Ultimate Bride, our favorite Chicago destination for wedding gowns. We posted about Bella's wedding dress from the new Twilight movie a few days ago, but did you know that you can also get her spectacular shoes? Manolo Blahnik created the "Swan pumps" that stepped out of the silver screen, and now you can own the same pair.

His powerfully feminine shoes have become must-haves for stylish women everywhere. While most of us covet his red-lacquered soles, they also retail upwards of $10,000+.

Have you seen Twilight Breaking Dawn Part I? If not, please forgive the spoiler but we think it's worth it! Bella's wedding dress was designed by the ever-so-talented Carolina Herrera for the movie. The long sleeves and button details are the perfect mix of sophistication and seduction. The Twilight wedding dress is now available for purchase for brides thanks to Alfred Angelo. The Wall Street Journal reports:

"Back in May, bridal retailer Alfred Angelo began working with Summit Entertainment to replicate the wedding dress in time for the film's November premiere, under a confidentiality agreement that designer Michael Shettel jokes was "signed in blood."

The company, which used undisclosed code names for the Twilight dress project, limited its circle of principals involved to only about four people, the designer said. Mr. Shettel was also invited to the Los Angeles movie set to view the original dress. The "Bella" dress shipped secretly to stores, with photos and inventory unveiled today."

One of the first things my husband learned about me early in our relationship? I'm not a camping or outdoors gal. Our Trip to Montreal

Please forgive us for the absence in posts! We just got back from scouting locations in Montreal and Toronto Canada. They are two fabulous locations and options for honeymooners looking for a bustling city with a lot to do, see and eat. We'll post about Toronto in a bit, but let's start with Montreal.

MONTREAL

Where to Stay: Auberge Bonaparte
We stayed at Auberge Bonaparte which was ranked #1 on Trip Advisor at the time we made our reservation. The price? Amazing. The service? Incredible. The room? Perfect. Bonaparte has that bed & breakfast type-feel but with impeccable service and a fabulous location. The best part? Your reservation includes breakfast each morning. It's a 15 minute walk to downtown Montreal (shopping) but it's still a fabulous site to see.

Where to Eat: Garde Manger

Celebrity chef and Cooking TV host, Chuck Hughes runs this AMAZING restaurant in Vieux Montreal. The music, food, and ambiance at Garde Manger is truly incredible. It was one of the best meals of my life. I would return to Montreal just to eat at this restaurant! Be sure to confirm your reservation in advance with the host and note that the restaurant is closed on Mondays.

Where to Shop: Holt Renfrew

Designer apparel and accessories is relatively hard to find in Montreal unless you stop at the ever-so-wonderful store, Holt Renfrew. From designer dresses to an in-store Hermes, it's a fantastic shopping stop to see beautiful apparel and accessories. Otherwise, stick to St. Catherine's Street for H&M, Mango, Forever 21, etc. Stay away from The Bay in downtown Montreal - it's much better in Toronto!

A Different Monday....

There are truly no words today. As a Japanese American, I am deeply struck by the horror of the awful natural disaster in Japan. My cousin is currently living there and teaching English to students through the JET program. Her hometown is near the coast by Sendai, one of the towns with deep devastation. She happened to be taking a two week vacation with friends near Mito when the earthquake and tsunami took place.

The past few days, she has been sleeping on the floor of a hotel with countless others with little food or drink {not to mention little phone/Internet access to the world}. While she has fallen on some hard times, she was among the lucky ones. Our family is eternally blessed that God watched over her and that she wasn't at home near Sendai during the quake and tsunami.

My heart goes out to Japan and the families most struck by this devastation. May healing, support and relief come swifty. I received an adorable mailing of samples from Band-Aid and Neosporin the other day to test out some products for the bride-to-be on her wedding day. As with all beauty products, we're never afraid to give an honest opinion and review so here it goes...

The first product was Band-Aid's Friction Block Stick, a formula that glides on smoothly and instantly reduces rubbing on your skin from shoes and helps you avoid blisters. I've tried similar products since I wear 6-inch stiletto heels every day. I can honestly say that not only does it work but it's better than most products that I've tried on the market. A former boss of mine once owned an impeccable pair of white eyelet Manolo Blahnik d'orsay pumps. She took them to her shoe cobbler in Lincoln Park and days later found out they ended up stealing them. She never got them back. I will never forget her reaction at work when she realized that they were gone. She said, "I was going to wear those shoes to my wedding."

Over the years, I've scoured eBay and even gone as far as calling Manolo Blahnik to try to find a pair in her size to gift her one day. Sadly, I was never able to locate the style before she got married.

I was shocked to find a pair of white eyelet Brian Atwood pumps and peep-toe pumps online for his Resort 2011 collection. While they aren't the same shoe, they are pretty close. These would add the perfect designer touch to any wedding. So chic!

The Third Coast Groom and I wanted to send out interesting and useful "Save the Dates" to our guests. We worked with the team from ForYourParty.com to create custom matchboxes with our save the date wedding information. We tied a scallop coaster to the cellphone bags with printed information for our wedding website as well {for privacy purposes, we kept that out of the photo}.

We shipped the matches in small kraft brown boxes with a matching pink and ivory striped label and custom photo stamps with our engagement photos on them. What do you think?

When it comes to wedding photography, most engaged couples are so focused on finding the right photographer that they forget about everything else related to photos. Couples, it's critical to create a "shot list" for the big day. This list should include a bulleted list of every photograph that you want taken at the wedding.

For example, do you have an Aunt that you want to get a photo alone with? Put it on the list. Want a photo of you with your Pastor/Priest? Add it to the paper.

We created a shot list for our wedding but ended up forgetting to ask the photographer to shoot our wedding rings {something I regret to this day}. Perhaps that's why I adore these ring photos from Camilla Binks Photography. We love how she incorporates the couple's favorite candy into the photograph.

All in all, make sure to write a wedding photography shot list...and check it twice!

One option we considered for our bridesmaids was dressing them in skirts and cardigans. Instead, we decided to let our bridesmaids pick their own dresses but after seeing Anne M. Cramer's Flynn Skirt, I wish that I had changed my mind!

Stripes are a huge trend for spring {think Prada's Spring 2011 ready-to-wear collection, Lacoste, etc.}. We love this as an outfit choice for bridesmaids for any spring/summer weddings.

Did you know that Princess Diana's wedding dress is currently on display in a nearby Third Coast city? The Grand Rapids Art Museum in Grand Rapids Michigan is currently hosting the exhibit "Diana, a Celebration" through February 16, 2011 which features several of the late Princesses dresses including the iconic wedding dress.

The next stop on the tour? Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri which will open on March 4, 2011 and will continue through June 2011 {which means they will have it on display during Kate and Prince William's wedding in April}. One NYC-based retailer that I've loved for years {especially for gifts and makeup bags} is Hendri Bendel. Whenever I'm in NYC, I always make a special trip to the store to pick-up something for friends, family, co-workers {and yours truly, of course!}. Henri Bendel makeup bags are actually a major part of my beauty routine. I rotate between four styles of their makeup bags depending on what I need {large, round, crescent-shaped, and travel size}. I even own the Centennial Stripe Shower Cap {rub-a-dub-dub} :)

Another Henri Bendel product that I can't live without are their peony candles {$15 for small, $30 for regular, $65 for extra-large}. Outdoor Option #1 {Year Round}: South Pond Pavillion at the Lincoln Park Zoo
The South Pond Pavilion was designed by Studio Gang Architects in 2010. The project transformed the picturesque urban pond from the 19th century into an ecological habitat buzzing with life. The design is the perfect backdrop for engagement photos. In fact, if I could do it all over again, I would try to host my wedding ceremony here.

Outdoor Location Option #2 {Color}: Gary Comer Youth Center
Check out this incredible building constructed by John Ronan Architects. Gary Comer, the late founder of Land's End decided to invest money to helping to transform Grand Crossing, the South Side neighborhood where he grew up. The South Shore Drill Team, a precision marching unit that keeps a lot of kids out of trouble currently trains here. The neighborhood isn't the best, but the photographs are worth the trip.

Indoor Location Option #1 {The View}: Hotel 71's Ballroom
While you may not always have access to it, the team at Hotel 71 are known for impeccable service and their top floor ballroom has some of the most spectacular views of the city {think the Chicago River, Trump International Hotel & Tower, and more}. With a little coaxing {and contacting them in advance}, you may have luck getting in for a quick photo shoot session. The ballroom is so spectacular that the same space is used in the Batman movies for Bruce Wayne's penthouse apartment.

Indoor Option #2 {The View}: Sears Tower Skydeck

I strongly considered this location for our engagement shoot becuase of We haven't seen a couple shoot there yet - so you may be the first! strong photographer {and a clear day} to capture a spectactular shot, but with the right lighting and outfits - this could make for a great location. Tickets to access the Skydeck? Adults (age 12 - 64): $14.95.

Cut from the Same Cloth {Well, Paper}
